Bio
John Cornell is the Founder of Crescendo Trade Risk, a specialty trade credit insurance brokerage built on a simple idea: people are smart, credit insurance is boring, and nobody likes being sold to. His style blends straight talk, dry humor, and zero patience for optimism-based credit decisions.
Before Crescendo, John was an asset-based lender and later spent a decade at the world’s largest trade credit insurer, Allianz Trade (formerly Euler Hermes). Along the way, he saw how credit insurance works when it’s done right—and how badly it goes when it’s rushed, oversold, or bent to hit a quarterly number. Today, he assumes companies buy on their timeline, not the carrier’s, and plans to be their partner for decades, not transactions.
Outside of work, John is a runner (former competitive marathoner), country and rock guitarist/bassist, and the pitmaster behind Beer Money BBQ, known for competitive cooking and legendary Lambeau Field tailgates. Same philosophy everywhere: patience wins, shortcuts lose, and timing matters.
Born and raised in the Green Bay area, John lives in Grafton, Wisconsin with his wife Carrie—and their dog Mya, who runs the operation. (Mya and BBQ Photos available upon request.)
